Details of Joe's Accident and Injuries

Hey Everyone,
I just wanted to give everyone the details of Dad's accident and the extent of the injuries he suffered. I thought everyone would want to know exactly what kind of strength dad has just to be alive.
Dad was cutting the field at my parents' home in NY when the accident occurred . He was driving his tractor (commercial sized farm tractor) which he has done many times before when he engaged the brake and got off the tractor to move a boulder. Apparently, the tractor's brake slipped a little and the tractor started moving downhill. Before he knew it or could do anything about it he was run over by the front and rear wheels. He may have also been run over by the augers. Some of the details are still a little sketchy but we believe he was dragged about 20-30 feet before the tractor kept going on its own to the bottom of the hill.
Our dad suffered many severe injuries and the final tally is not in yet. Some of his injuries include both legs broken below the knee severely. Both brakes were compound fractures. He also broke his right femur, his right pelvis and his right hip and also his right ankle. All of his ribs were broken on his right side and several on his left side. Both lungs were punctured from the broken ribs and his liver was lacerated.
On the bright side his heart and brain seem to be doing well.
After suffering all of these injuries, somehow dad was able to get his cell phone out of his pocket and call 911. His neighbor answered the call and was the first on the scene. Seeing how severe Joe was injured he called in the life-flight helicopter which arrived at the same time as the ambulance. Dad stayed conscious until the paramedics got there and they flew him to Albany Medical Center which is where he has been in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit ever since. He will probably remain their for weeks, if not months.
I know I speak for my brothers and sisters when I tell you how proud we are of our father for fighting to stay alive. He has a long battle ahead of him but we are all hopeful that with his strength and your thoughts and prayers that he will get through this.
Thank you all for your time, your comments, your thoughts and your prayers.
Sincerely,
The Ferraro Family.

Hi Cindi and all the Ferraros. Bill and I have been thinking and praying for all of you, but especially for Joe/Popo. We are, of course, amazed at his spirit and strength in the face of such a horrific accident. Please know that even those who only recently met Joe at Long Lake are praying furiously for his speedy recovery and for all of you as well. The
anxiety of these hours and days is difficult to bear; the network of family and legions of friends will, I pray, help all of you through these most difficult of days. Love, Arlene (Miss Big)

Joe, Cindi and family,
I was just horrified to hear about Joe's accident and pray that he is in good care at the Albany Medical Center. If he could survive that accident, he will survive the the recovery, no matter what it takes, and come back as strong as ever. Michelle and I will pray for a strong recovery for Joe, and strength for you and the kids to get thru it as well.

I first would like to say that I have prayed for Joe's health and streagth to return many times since I talked to Robb. When I first found out about this, I was shocked that something like this could happen to someone so caring, strong, and kind hearted. I know Joe and the Ferraro family because Robb and I grew up together. I spent many weekends with the Ferraros and I have to tell that there are no other Familys out there identical and I mean that in the best of ways. Joe being so confidently in charge, and at the same time so proud of his entire family. I believe that Joe's inner streangth comes not only from himself but from all of you.(His family) There are many fond memories of Joe kicking my but in pool but also being nice about it. He is just a wonderful man and a great father. and I hope he can pull this thing through. If anyone in the world can I would have to say it would deffinalty be him. I will continue to pray for him. Todd stop ranking on me because I spelled so many words wrong. just kidding.Robb I'll call soon. Jon

Ferraro's-
I wanted to let you know that Andrea and I are praying for Mr Ferraro and your family. Many of my fond memories growing up in G-bury happened at the your house. It was simple and only natural, being a Bills fan, for your family to except me into your home (every weekend) but especially Mr. Ferraro. I think he liked having me there so he could call me Scottie Pippen(that always seems to make him laugh). By the time we would wake up(mind you it was 1:00pm), Mr. Ferraro already did the yard work, ran 5 miles and played some golf, just in time for his bag of potato chips and the Bill's game. Your family will be strong during this difficult time just like your father always has been. Again, my family's thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

Hi To all the Ferraros:

Dick and I have been reading your daily updates. As Danielle mentioned to you I tried to send a message but did not do it correctly. I hope this gets to you.

I have put your dad and entire family on our prayer list at work. Joe is such a strong person and I know he has the will to live and with Cindi and his family at his side it will give him any added strength he will need.

Plese know that you are in our thoughts everyday. I hope they can do the surgury and he will get some relief. I will keep checking daily and praying everyday for all of you.
Love

Dear Cindi,& the whole amazing Ferraro Family!! We were just blown away like everyone else must have been when we learned of Joe's unbelieveable accident! Add us to the list of Joe's friends, who believe in his ability for a healthy recovery. Heck if Joe made it through a career in NAPA he can make it through anything!!!!! Considering all that's happened I"m sure Joe can still feel like a lucky man, to have all the Love and support that surronds him. Were with you in our thoughts always.
